ZACH ERTZ BACK TO PHILLY?! The Eagles Should Make The Call

The Eagles have some decisions to make sooner than later. As of this current moment the Eagles have 5 tight ends on roster. Dallas Goedert, Johnny Mundt, E.J. Jenkins, and two tight ends that are currently on IR in Grant Calcaterra, and Eli Stowers. I think there's a clear gap in skill between Goedert and every other tight end on this roster. Part of the big problem in this situation is not only the fact that Eli Stowers was supposed to be the next guy in line but also that now he's slated to miss 4 weeks and is on the injury list. It's bad enough that he looked terrible in preseason and camp. He didn't look like he could block or catch. I mean that's the two main skills you need if you're a tight end. I also don't have faith in E.J. or Mundt to be the primary backup. Both have shown flashes but I don't think they can hit that level that would be needed.
Howie Roseman should make the call to free agent Zach Ertz. Ertz is not only a Eagles legend, but is a philadelphia sports legend. He was a huge part of the first Super Bowl team, and he has played his best football in Philadelphia. Ertz could help mitigate the pressure off of Devonta Smith, Goedert, Wicks, and Saquon since he's a very reliable catcher. He might've not been a blocker, but you can't deny how great he is when it comes to catching and his elite route running. I also believe that since Ertz gave this city so much and dedicated a ton of time, that he should get a last go at it in the Eagle green. It's necessary for the city to give him a proper send off and it's the least the Eagles Organization can do for him giving so much to the team.
