Eagles vs Panthers Preview 10/18/26

Another week another injury for the Philadelphia Eagles, this time coming unexpectedly to fans as Jalen Hurts has been ruled out with a superficial blood clot in his calf. Although Jalen played through this injury last week the doctors were concerned with the movement they had seen from the clot and shut him down for this week. As of now there isn’t a timetable for his return. In his absence the Eagles turn to backup Tanner McKee who has suited up a few times for the Eagles during Jalen Hurts injuries. McKee’s most recent start came last season in week 18 where he seemed to struggle against the commanders resulting in a loss for the Eagles.
The Panthers come in fresh off their bye week ready to continue the offensive power they’ve shown through their first four games. The biggest challenge for the Panthers is being injured in the secondary, remember this is the team that the Bears put up 59 points on in week 1. Another interesting piece is the return of Eagles deadline acquisition from last year Jaelan Phillips who signed with the Panthers in free agency last offseason. Phillips is currently questionable with a hamstring injury. Will he get to make a triumphant return or have to sit this one out?
While the Eagles offensive line didn’t completely fall apart like we all expected last week, they do face a tough task this week against Derrick Brown the all pro defensive lineman who’s a force anchoring down the Panthers defense.
After the embarrassment of a loss last week the Eagles are going to come out fighting, over the past two games the defense has vastly improved. The Eagles should, more importantly, need a win Sunday and that’s exactly what they’ll get. It won’t be pretty, it'll be a nail biter, the Eagles will hang on.
