Still no win... Flyers Postgame 10/11/26

The Flyers fall to the Hurricanes at home and are 1 of 2 winless teams left in the National Hockey League. Pyotr Kochetkov has proven he can handle the Canes, as he has picked up 2 of his 3 wins this season against the Flyers. In those two starts, Pyotr gave up 2 in the first matchup and 1 tonight. The kryptonite in this one was once again the defense, as they gave up 4 and lost handily to Carolina at home, 4-1 in the final.
Every game this season has been tough sledding in net for whoever is behind the pipes, whether it's Vladar or Woll. While Woll has had a much better start this season, both goaltenders have been peppered in every game and have had no defensive support in front of them. This is now the third game Woll has played in where he has faced 30 shots, and considering the volume of shots taken at him, it has been a solid start for Joseph, as in 4 games he has a 0-2-2 record with a 2.95 GAA and a .914 save percentage. Woll has been the main reason the Flyers have 2 points to begin with, as without him they likely would have lost both of those games in overtime. So we all know that even with letting 4 in tonight, Woll does not deserve any bit of the blame.
So what needs to change for this Flyers defense? For starters, their top defenseman Travis Sanheim has an abysmal plus-minus of -10, meaning he has been out there for 10 more goals against than goals scored. In 7 games, that is by far the worst start defensively for Sanheim. Every player on this Flyers team has a negative plus-minus except for Nick Seeler, Rasmus Ristolainen, Carl Grundstrom and Alex Bump. Ristolainen and Bump have only appeared in 3 games, and Grundstrom has played 5. One of the only bright spots for Philly has been Nick Seeler, who is the only defenseman who has played every game and has an even plus-minus of zero to go along with 2 assists so far.
It wouldn't hurt for Tocchet to play Sanheim less and Seeler more, even if Sanheim is a leader for this team.
Just because the defense has been bad, that doesn't excuse the offense, who have yet to score more than 2 goals in a game.
Philly will hope that can change as they face the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday.
