Philadelphia Flyers: Two Flyers players inducted into the Hall of Fame

The Philadelphia Flyers got some exciting news today: two left wings made the Flyers Hall of Fame. Those players are Simon Gagne and Bob Kelly. Both were outstanding players in their time in the NHL. Kelly played in the 1970s, and Gagne played in the early 2000s. They both were stars for two different reasons, as Gagne is known for being an elite goal scorer, while Kelly was known for his elite defensive play with the Flyers. 

Simon Gagne’s resume 

Gagne finished his professional hockey career with 291 goals in 822 games played. He won one Stanley Cup with the Los Angeles Kings in 2012. Gagne also played for the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Boston Bruins throughout his professional hockey career. He was also a two-time NHL All-Star and represented the Flyers for both All-Star appearances. Gagne represents what Flyers hockey means, and now being inducted into the Flyers Hall of Fame pays off all of his work. 

Bob Kelly’s resume 

Kelly also had a very successful career, but his resume is different. Kelly was known as a defensive player, but he also could contribute offensively. Kelly was a two-time Stanley Cup champion, and not only did he win two of them, but he also won them back-to-back with the Flyers in 1974 and 1975, proving he is a true star in the league. Kelly also scored the Stanley Cup-winning goal in 1975, which solidifies even more that he deserved to be inducted into the Flyers Hall of Fame. 

Final Overview

Two really deserving players heard great news. Kelly and Gagne can now call themselves Hall of Fame Flyers players. These are two stars that made an impact with one being a big scorer and the other being a defensive first player. Both of these players are stars in their own ways, and luckily for them, it has now been proven and rewarded for all of their accomplishments throughout their hockey careers.
