Mekhi Becton Lands in Green Bay - So Where Can the Eagles Turn for Offensive Line Help?

Some Eagles fans were hoping for a Mekhi Becton reunion, but it is off the table, for now.

The Green Bay Packers signed Mekhi Becton to the practice squad on Monday, after a workout. Green Bay also signed Laken Tomlinson, veteran guard, to the team to try and strengthen their offensive line that has struggled this season.

For Philadelphia, Mekhi Becton’s name carries some weight. Previously, The Eagles took a chance on the former New York Jets first round pick in 2024, and moved the massive six-foot seven lineman to right guard. And watched him become an important piece in the 2024 Super Bowl run for the Birds, and partially assisted in Saquon Barkley’s historic 2,005 yard rushing season.

Becton then left Philadelphia for the Los Angeles Chargers where he started in 14 games in 2025, where he underwent surgery on his shoulder this offseason, and remained unsigned until The Packers came calling.

Coming into the season, one of the believed strengths of this Eagles team was in fact the offensive line. And through week 3, we have not seen that. From bad play, penalties, to injuries it has been a headache to watch the line so far.

With Mekhi Becton off the board, Howie Roseman is most-likely going to try and cook something up before the NFL Deadline, which falls on November 10th. So he has over a month to evaluate the current line and weight options for this struggling offensive line.

One of the possible names Howie could look at is another familiar face to Philadelphia, Isaac Seumalo. Now this would fall on The Cardinals losing games, Seumalo spent seven seasons with the Birds, and then left for Pittsburgh, where he made the Pro Bowl in 2024. He did sign a three year contract with Arizona, and has experience at both the center and guard positions. According to the Cardinals he allowed only 3.7% pressure rate in 2025, which is the lowest among qualifying NFL guards.

Currently Isaac Seumalo is 32 years old, and Arizona could decide eventually if the season goes south, to move off an older player for draft capital. And for Philadelphia it would be a perfect fit, versatility, and like Becton, familiarity with the organization.

Another local move would be 36 year old veteran, Kevin Zeitler, and despite his age the fall off isn’t as bad as you might expect. In 2025 with the Titans, he put up a 74.5 PFF grade, and only allowed 16 pressures on 909 offensive snaps.

This month Zeitler said he was interested in playing and is “ready to roll”. He would be a good fit into this offensive line group, and for both parties it would be a great fit. He becomes a contender, and the Eagles get a knowledgeable player who can help us win now.

Regardless, what this offensive line has done through 3 games has been poor, and the Eagles should be at the top of the watch list for an offensive line move coming towards the trade deadline.
