Five Sixers Make ESPN’s Top 100- Is This the Most Talented Sixers Team Ever?

The Philadelphia 76ers are entering the 2026-2027 with something they haven’t had in a while, a stacked amount of high-end talent.

ESPN released their NBA Top 100 Players list ahead of the season, and Philadelphia has 5 players that cracked the top 100.

Here is where they are listed:

No.11- Tyrese Maxey

No. 14- Jaylen Brown

No. 18- LeBron James

No. 41- Joel Embiid

No. 72- VJ Edgecombe

Yeah, you are reading that right. 3 players that are within the top 20, which excludes Joel Embiid, and one of the brightest young stars VJ Edgecombe. One of the biggest takeaways is Tyrese Maxey being the highest ranked Sixers player.

Maxey is coming off of a season where he averaged 28.3 points per game, and 6.6 assists. He has continued to grow and prove his role as a star point guard in the NBA, and he is catapulting himself into being a legitimate super star.

And then you add on Jaylen Brown and LeBron James, you get an MVP caliber two-way wing in Brown who has won a championship. And a former MVP and several time championship winner in LeBron who even in his older age has defied father time and been one of the best players to this day.

We can’t forget Embiid won MVP in the 2022-23 season, and just a few short years later he is sitting at 41 on a top 100 list, which sounds crazy but given last season he just played in 38 games in the regular season, it isn’t shocking.

Even in his short stint of games last season he posted 26.9 points, and 7.7 rebounds when he was on the court. But this is one of the biggest advantages this new look Sixers team has, Embiid doesn’t need to be the focal point. And he can still dominate the inside when he is available.

The biggest task for Philadelphia will be keeping these players on the court together and healthy. This will be the key to success for this Sixers team during the 2026-27 season.

Keep these players on the court, building synergy, connection, and dominating into a deep postseason run. Expectations for this 76ers team is at an all-time high and a first round exit will not be taken very well among the fans, and even players.

This roster is built for a serious run, ESPN’s list proves that.
