We've been waiting for it to happen, last week on the 14th I made an article on here stating that I believe the Eagles should bring back Zach Ertz. Fast forward to today, he is now being signed to the practice squad but I don't expect him to be there for long. This past week against Tennessee showed how much actual tight end issues the Eagles have.

It was announced after the game against the Titans that Goedert could miss multiple weeks, and the backup tight ends on the roster do not look good so far. Johnny Mundt whom the Eagles expected to be the backup while Eli Stowers and Calcaterra are on IR, had just 2 catches for 8 yards and didn't look appealing at all. His route running isn't great, and he feels more of a liability than an actual weapon on the offensive side of the ball. The other problem was that Mundt was known as a decent blocker, but against the Titans this past game, he couldn't do that at all. As a tight end not every single one is gonna be both a great catcher and a blocker, but they need to have at least one skill.

Ertz is one of the most reliable tight ends to throw to. Ertz is also a legend within the city of Philadelphia. He might be coming off an injury and be on the practice squad, but I expect him to ramp all the way up and make himself known again. Knowing that the fans will be going nuts if he makes a catch or even just makes a good play is going to give him the confidence to keep the grind going. I love this signing for the Eagles, I think he's gonna show he's got stuff in the tank still, he was also deserved a final run with the team anyways. Hopefully with the direction this is all going that the Eagles decide to bring back Mekhi Becton too who's still a free agent since the offensive line has been torn and not that great.
