A New Era in Philly: 5 Biggest Takeaways From Sixers Media Day

For the first time in a long time, the Philadelphia 76ers walked into Media Day with a feeling that something had changed.
There was a different energy surrounding the team, a different level of expectation and, most importantly, a roster that has given Philadelphia plenty to talk about. From the stars expected to lead the way to the new faces looking to make their mark, Media Day offered the first real glimpse into what this Sixers team could look like once the season begins.
Here are the biggest takeaways from Sixers Media Day.
Everyone is bought into their new roles
The new 76ers starting lineup is one of the greatest lineups of all time, if not the greatest lineup to touch a basketball court. The lineup consisting of Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, Jaylen Brown, Lebron James, and lastly Joel Embiid has starpower and talent at every single level/position. I honestly thought when this lineup was assembled, that the fans would go nuts (which they did in Philadelphia) but I thought more people would be buying in and thinking they'll go all the way. Unforuntately that's not the case and there's people overlooking the talent this team has. Jeff Teague, Cam from All Talk Sports, Colin Cowherd, and even Stephen A Smith, are a couple names to throw. I regrettably hate to inform those guys, but during Media Day, it was shut down once again. Jaylen Brown was asked from a reporter trying to stir the pot "Who is the Alpha of the team?" Brown shut him down asap, and said next question. People said that Lebron wouldn't buy into his role either, and he was ecstatic about how excited he is to play for this team and stated that he understands his role. Maxey & Joel are both on the same page with their new teammates understanding what they have to do. Lastly, VJ stated how he's extremely excited to learn from James and Brown, and that he'll buy into whatever role is needed of him to help the team go all the way.
Joel Embiid is in great shape
There was something that felt different this Media Day, everyone was happy, people were excited, and one of those people was Joel Embiid. Not only did he look like he lost some weight, but he was in great shape. He kept talking about how he "feels great" and he definitely lost weight and put on more muscle this offseason which is a big deal. If Embiid can stay healthy and play a full season, this team is even more scary than people think.
Jaylen Brown is going to go Nuclear in his first year as a 76ER
Jaylen Brown is so locked in it's insane. He's pushing all the hate and disrespect aside, and he's going to show why he's a top ten player in the NBA. Since Brown is also bought into his role, it makes him even more scary knowing the fact there won't be issues or ego problems on the 76ers.
This team is ready for the bad moments
James stated that he understands there will be bad moments and that the team could face a couple losses in a row, but he made it clear he's ready to do whatever he can to push his teammates to understand that it takes time to build something great. Once they truly understand that and take a couple steps back, I feel destined that they could go all the way to the NBA Finals.
Maxey is ready for more off ball play
Maxey stated that he knows he will be playing more off ball this season especially now since Brown and James are players that can also bring the ball up the court. Maxey said he's happy that he'll be able to catch and shoot more and thinks that it'll bring more out of him and that he can be more dominant.
Overall, this team is incredibly talented and skilled at all levels within the starting lineup, and I cannot wait to see what they have in store this season.
