Blue Hens Recap 10-2 2026

THE FLAMES SCORTCH THE HENS AS CONFERENCE USA PLAY BEGINS
Friends and Family weekend started off on a sour note as Delaware dropped their conference opener 30-14 to the Liberty Flames.
Liberty would tack on 2 Chris Reeves field goals in the first quarter before Kam Davis would burst for a 56-yard score with 7:35 left in the 2nd. Right before half Payton Jones would punch in a 2-yard touchdown as the Flames would take a 20-0 lead into the half over the Hens.
At the half The Flames had burned the Blue Hen defense for 338 total yards, 199 on the ground, while eating up 20 minutes and 30 seconds in time of possession.
In the 3rd quarter, Liberty would add another Chris Reeves field goal before Kam Davis would notch his 2nd touchdown of the night to make it 30 straight points for the Flames.
The Blue Hens were without star quarter back Nick Minicucci who was out for today's game after suffering a knee injury against Virginia last week. The extent of his injury has not been made public to the media, and it remains to be seen how long his absence will be.
On the night Delaware would use 3 quarter backs, starting Sophomore EJ Archield, before turning to backup Brendan Streeter and then later freshman Tyler Bell. The Trio combined for 257 yards on 17/35 for 2 touchdowns with an interception by Streeter and an Archield fumble. Streeter would lead the hens to a 4th quarter score to break a 7-quarter TD scoreless streak.
Later in the 4th Tyler Bell would connect with Matthew Mckinley-Daniels for a 27-yard touchdown, adding a 2-point conversion to give the hens 14. Delaware drops to 2-3, while Liberty improves to 4-1 on the season.
For the Hens, they will have 11 days before they play their next game on Tuesday October 13th against a Conference USA Opponent in The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders at 7pm in Murfreesboro Tennessee.
