The Phillies couldn't beat the NL’s top team, the Milwaukee Brewers, and they were behind the 8-ball all night. Aaron Nola had a rough outing tonight, and that raises some concern this close to postseason baseball. Nola went 6 innings, allowing 4 runs, with Philly losing 4-1.

Nola’s day was messy to start, giving up a solo home run in the top of the first to Bryce Turang, and then another solo shot to Christian Yellich in inning number two.

Aaron then walked David Hamilton to start the third, and proceeded to give up a 2-out double to Turang. William Contreras then drove in both runners to give the Brewers a 4-1 lead.

Philadelphia's only form of scoring tonight came in the 2nd inning, where Alec Bohm led off with a single, Bryson Stott doubled, and Brandon Marsh walked to put 3 runners on to start the inning. J.T. Realmuto then grounded into a double play to give the Phillies their first run and make it a 2-1 game at that point before Milwaukee’s explosive third.

Both Tanner Banks and Matt Lazar were solid out of the bullpen tonight, with Banks going 2 innings with 2 hits, and Lazar pitching a 1-2-3 in the top of the 9th.

Philly still needs 2 more wins to secure a playoff spot, with Arizona winning tonight, and they will look to do so in their final game against Milwaukee with Andrew Painter(3-10, 5.59) on the mound. The Brewers have not announced a starter for tomorrow’s game.
