SHUTOUT! Phillies Postgame 9/17/26

Phillies shut down the Mets 3-0 with a dominant pitching performance from Aaron Nola at Citi Field.
Nola had arguably his best outing of the season, pitching 7 innings, allowing 3 hits, and issuing 3 walks. Aaron has been dominant over the last month and is in top form with the postseason a couple of weeks away. Jonathan Bowlan relieved him in the bottom of the 8th, and he gave up 1 hit to a formidable Mets offense. The Mets have nothing to play for and are now eliminated from the postseason, as they continue to put together uninspiring performances. The Phillies started on a Bryce Harper infield single in the 5th with the bases loaded. The call was initially that Harper was out at first, but it was overturned, allowing the Phillies to take the lead. They then added on to the lead with sacrifice flies in the 7th from Luis Arraez and Justin Crawford in the 8th.
The Phillies will look to take the 2nd of 4 tomorrow against the Mets and continue a dominant stretch of pitching. The Phillies have not named a starter for tomorrow night's game.
