The Philadelphia Phillies had a disappointing National League WildCard loss to the Atlanta Braves to end their 2026 season. The Phillies struggled offensively all season long and that brings one question: who should the Phillies bring back for next season?  Today, we start with third baseman Alec Bohm and whether the Phillies should bring Bohm back for another season. Looking at Bohm’s stats quickly,  he finished the regular season with a .249 batting average, 15 home runs, and 88 RBIS (Runs Batted In).

The Case for Bringing Bohm Back

The main reason the Phillies should bring Bohm back is the fact that he is an RBI machine. Bohm is not the best hitter, but he still drives in runs and impacts the game at a high level. He even shows some signs of clutchness, as he hit a big home run against the Atlanta Braves in the National League Wild Card Series. An offense that already struggles does not want to lose a player who is at the top of the roster in Runs Batted In.

The Case for Not Bringing Bohm Back

Bohm has been a productive player for a long time, but there are far more reasons to not bring him back. Bohm is 30 years old and finished 2025 with a batting average below .250, and those two things independently could scare the Phillies out of bringing him back. Then, there is his home run production. Bohm is not a home run hitter, and while you do not have to be one to be good, his average does not outperform that, and the Phillies may need to go after a power hitter this offseason.

The Final Argument

When looking at both arguments, it is probably best for the Phillies to keep Bohm unless they can find a good trade partner or go all in on MLB Free Agency. What you want if you are the Phillies is to get a younger and better hitter as the future third baseman, but if they can not do it this offseason, getting rid of Bohm for no value would be a bad decision.
