Phillies Handle Mets! PHILLIES POSTGAME 9/20/26

The Philadelphia Phillies finished out their 4 game series against The New York Mets with a much needed 7-2 win, earning a split and picking up a much needed win.
Philadelphia got on the board early and it was all she wrote from then on, Luis Arraez opened up the scoring with a sac fly in the first inning, and Alec Bohm came in and ripped an RBI single which gave the Phils a quick 2-0 lead.
The offense kept their foot on the gas in the third inning where Trea Turner drove in another run with a double before Arraez added on with his second RBI of the day. This extended the lead to 4-0, and luckily Philadelphia had plenty of support with the pitching.
Christopher Sanchez provided yet another strong outing, he went 6 ⅓ innings, only allowing 2 runs, striking out 6, and allowing 0 walks. This puts Sanchez up to 18-6 on the season and continues to show why he is one of the most reliable arms in this Phillies rotation.
The Mets made things interesting through the sixth and seventh innings posting a run in each. During the bottom of the sixth inning Bo Bichette send a 419-foot home run out of Citi Field making it 4-1, followed by a Brett Baty single which brought Francisco Alvarez around to score, bringing the game closer at 4-2.
In the 8th inning, Justin Crawford delivered the biggest hit of the game, a bases clearing three-run triple. Crawford's hit broke the game open and gave the Phillies a comfortable 7-2 lead over the Mets headed into the final innings.
Overall, it was honestly a refreshing Phillies win. We got a strong pitching performance, contributions from multiple hitters, and one of our best young players in Crawford delivered a hit to ultimately give us the lead we needed.
The season is coming to an end and these are the types of wins we need to close out the regular-season and bring momentum going into October.
Final Score: Phillies 7 Mets 2
