The Delaware Blue Hens held off the Chanticleers of Coastal Carolina 22-14 this afternoon. The win was fueled by stout defense in the 2nd half and a game for the history books out of Junior Wide Receiver Sean Wilson.

After the hens first possession ended in a punt, Coastal would drive 95 yards in 5 plays including a gorgeous 62 yard connection from Quarterback Deuce Bailey to his receiver Goldie Lawrence for the games first touchdown. Delaware would answer in the 2nd quarter when Nick Minicucci connected for the first of 2 receiving touchdowns for Sean Wilson with 12:32 remaining in the half.

That's when the game shifted to the next gear with The Chanticleers immediately responding in their next drive for a 9 play 72 yard drive ending with a 27 yard Touchdown grab from.wide receiver Colton Hinton. With 8:12 left to go. Delawares defense would stiffen and get the hens one final chance to score before the half. Taking over at their 40 UD would go 60 yards in 6 plays and punch in a Jo Silver Touchdown run with 0:35 left before the halftime break. However, following a penalty on the extra point, the Hens would capture momentum before the half with a Carty Muddle trick play to score on the 2 point conversion attempt and Delaware would lead it at the break 15-14.

Both teams would trade 3 punts each until the 4th quarter, where would 8:19 left Minicucci would find Sean Wilson for the 2nd time for a touchdown to give the hens the 22-14 lead and inevitably the win.

Minicucci was 24/32 with 302 passing yards and 2 TDs to go along with 10 rushing yards. Sean Wilson caught 9 passes, 2 for touchdowns and 185 yards. The Hens defense forced 2 turnovers including a pivotol fumble recovery in the 1st quarter to stifle a Chanticleer drive and another on a muffed punt recovery to set up the first Sean Wilson score in the 2nd quarter.

The win improves the Hens record to 2-1 and gives Delaware 15 wins in their last 16 home games at the tub. However, the friendly confines for Newark will be absent next week when Delaware squares off with #25 ranked Virginia in Charlottesville, Saturday September 26th at 6:00pm
