Alec Bohm is the hero for the Phillies in an explosive 7 run 8th leading to a 9-4 victory to avoid the sweep Andrew Painter had one of his better outings of the season this afternoon, going 5 innings of 1 run ball and 6 hits. Painter’s lone run given up came in the first inning on a Drake Baldwin sacrifice fly to give the Braves the lead early. Baldwin finished the series with 5 RBI’s across the three games. Painter was efficient with his pitches, throwing 87 and striking out 3 while allowing four walks. The rookie brought his ERA for the season down to 5.54.

The Phillies offense finally got going today, starting with a 1 out single from Bryson Stott in the top of the second. That would be followed up with Brandon Marsh reaching on a fielder's choice, and J.T Realmuto would capitalize with a runner on, launching a 2 run homer off of Braves starter Grant Holmes to take a 2-1 lead. The home run was J.T.’s 11th of the year. The score would stay at 2-1 until the bottom of the 7th inning, where the Braves would tie the game on a Matt Olson RBI single off of Jose Alvarado that scored Micheal Harris II. With the score evened up at 2 headed into the final two innings, the

Phillies bats started to heat up. Alec Bohm hit a go ahead 2 run double, and that started the fireworks. Bryson Stott would hit an RBI single into center to score Bohm from second, and that was followed up by a Brayan De La Cruz single, advancing Stott to second. J.T. would then come up with his second clutch swing of the game hitting a single to center to score Stott and advance De La Cruz, making it 6-2 Phillies. Kyle Schwarber, who had a relatively quiet series, would make his mark on this

game with a two RBI single with the bases loaded that scored De La Cruz and Realmuto,

sending Justin Crawford to second where he would then score on an RBI single from Trea Turner to cap off a 7 run inning that made it 9-2 Phillies. The Braves would then add 2 on a homer from Matt Olson, his 39th of the season off Tanner Banks, scoring Acuna and making the final score 9-4.

The Phillies will have a day off tomorrow, before they look to build on today’s offensive success in the first of two games on the road against the Nationals on Tuesday. Ace Christopher Sanchez will get the start at Nationals Park for Philadelphia(17-5, 2.79), pitching against rookie Jackson Kent(1-4, 6.59)
